Rupert murdoch did not solely form bskyb in 1990, it was part of the merger between sky television, which rupert formed in 1988 becoming on air in 1989 and British satellite broadcasting. The original line can be found in the first paragraph, fifth line from the bottom. Speedymany2k (talk) 00:19, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. PianoDan (talk) 16:47, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Potential original research connection

[edit]

“During Saint Patrick's Day celebrations in 2023, Murdoch, who is quarter Irish, proposed to his partner, Ann Lesley Smith. The engaged couple first met at an event in September 2022. In April 2023, two weeks after the couple were engaged, Murdoch suddenly called off the engagement. The split was said to be caused by Murdoch's discomfort with Smith's religious views and her infatuation with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, reportedly referring to him as "a messenger from God". Carlson was fired from Fox News three weeks later.”

This seems like WP:SYNTHESIS to me or WP:OR, to implicitly draw a connection that Tucker was fired because of Rupert’s ex’s infatuation with him by even mentioning his firing. As far as I know there is no reliable reporting saying that is the reason, and the real reason for Tucker’s firing remains officially unknown. StewdioMACK (talk) 04:00, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

British citizenship

[edit]

The article makes no mention of the fact that Rupert Murdoch is a British citizen. He had to become one when he acquired newspapers in the UK. He lived in the UK for decades, and likely remains a British citizen to this day.

I would suggest adding this to the article as it is highly relevant. 194.193.181.134 (talk) 02:56, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a reliable source to support that claim. HiLo48 (talk) 03:11, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No mention of it anywhere I can find, which in itself is interesting as the law for media ownership is quite strict in the UK. Whilst he may have bypassed the law due to the IPO and ownership structure of Sky television and later BSkyB, I very much doubt he could have done that with his proprietorship of News International. All his kids have UK citizenship.
Best leave it off for now. I'll do some more digging as this is fascinating. 194.193.181.134 (talk) 05:00, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The latest 'Forbes Ranking' entry references the incorrect person.

Change 'Rick Cohen' to '"Rupert Murdoch & Family"'

As per Forbes list of The Richest People In The World, dated 8 MARCH 2024, Rick Cohen ranked #100 with a net worth of $19.5 Billion.[1] Medercius (talk) 01:31, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
